I saw this quote from an interview he had around 10 years ago, and thought it was quite poignant yet evergreen: "The secret is never forgetting that you’re a journeyman actor and that nothing is your final thing, nothing is your greatest thing, nothing is your worst thing."

That is a good quote, I just try and think of it as don't focus on your worst self, best self or what you may end at, focus on the journey of life. Or...something like that.

I briefly thought he had already passed when I saw the news because of something I read a while back about how Jones had given the okay about Disney using AI to replicate his voice for Darth Vader, so the news of his actual passing did confuse me momentarily.

For me his role as Mufasa is my favorite of his. While Vader is iconic, I just prefer that Mufasa has no slight distortion to his voice and how soothing yet strong it sounds.

Dame Maggie Smith (89)
I'm sure everyone has probably already become aware of this by now, but I still wanted to mention that Dame Maggie Smith has passed away at the age of 89. She was best known for her roles in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.

Amazing actress who nailed her role as McGonagall in Harry Potter which is really the only role I've seen her in myself. Seems she just passed away in hospital naturally which I'd say is a blessing along with the age she reached.

Yes, RIP to her. She was brilliant as McGonagall indeed, knew she was in Downton but I was never into that. Could've sworn I saw her in something else, the only I know I've seen is Hook (1991) but don't remember much of her parts in that and had to look them up.

Nobuyo Ōyama (90), Voice Actress for Danganronpa and Doraemon, Has Passed Away
I personally haven't heard of her before this due to not consuming any of the stuff she worked on, but wanted to share this in case anyone else here does know of her. She actually passed away on September 29 but it seems the news was only shared publicly today.

As the title suggests, she was best known for her roles in Danganronpa and Doraemon. For the former, she was the voice actress for the series main villain Monokuma, whilst for the latter she was the voice of the titular character for the shows 26 year run from 1979 to 2005.

Her passing was due solely to old age; however, she did retire from voice acting in 2015 after being diagnosed with dementia and lived in a retirement home permanently from 2016 until her passing.

David Harris, Actor in the Cult Classic ‘The Warriors,’ Dies at 75
David Harris, who played as member Cochise in the titular street gang of 1979 cult classic movie “The Warriors,” died on Friday at his home in New York City. He was 75. His daughter, Davina Harris, said the cause was cancer.

Man I don't know of any of his other work (if any) but I love The Warriors so to hear the news unexpectedly from my dad of one of the actors passing away struck a chord with me.

Damn sucks to know one of them's gone, although yeah I have no clue what else Harris has done, nor knew of his name as I only know Remar and may recognise Beck if it was him, that's it. Makes me want to watch The Warriors again. RIP sir.

Jimmy Carter, Former US President, Passes Away Aged 100
Former US President Jimmy Carter has died aged 100, as shared by The Carter Center which was founded by the former president. The Carter Center, which advocates for democracy and human rights around the world, said he died on Sunday afternoon at his home in Plains, Georgia. The former peanut farmer lived longer than any president in history and celebrated his 100th birthday in October.

The Democrat served as president from 1977 to 1981, a period beset by economic and diplomatic crises. After leaving the White House with low approval ratings, his reputation was restored through humanitarian work which earned him the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dang I didn't realize the guy went into hospice care over a year ago. I remember when the news broke of him going into it that I didn't expect him to last for much longer, especially since he had stopped treatment for an undisclosed medical illness so I assumed whatever that was would be what takes him.

I only know about some of his post-presidency stuff but what little I did see was something to be admired just for the age he was at while still doing it. At 100 years old he must be one of if not the oldest person to pass away who served for the US government at some point in their life.

Just amazing he made it to 100, life worth lived if you lasted that long. I know next to nothing of Carter anyway, only that he was president but wouldn't have been able to say the year, so ah it was '77 then.

David Lynch, famed director of movies like Eraserhead and Mulholland Drive and the TV show Twin Peaks, died today, Janurary 16th. He was 78. He was a visionary director well known for his surreal style of filmmaking. He is arguably one of the most important movie directors of his time, and his loss is a hole that will never be truly filled by anyone else.

I'm surprised I've somehow never watched anything Lynch did, and despite having heard his name before I didn't really know what he actually did besides being some part of the movie industry. Given his standing I feel like I was living under a rock. o.o

I would say its understandable if you've never seen his works, because of how weird and off-putting they can be. This is the director of the bad version of Dune, after all. But make no mistake: David Lynch is one of the most critically acclaimed directors ever to do it. We lost an absolute artist by losing David Lynch. His films changed the way we view movies in ways we'd probably take for granted today. I can't understate just how important he was as a director.
