I actually tried to get the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle when that went up for order last November, sadly it sold out pretty much immediately and I had no chance at it. I did manage to salvage a 30th anniversary Dual Sense at least, but I really wanted that PS5 Pro bundle because I loved the PS1-themed color scheme. The Pro's price didn't really bother me too much when it was announced because from what I had gathered, it was about the same price as a PC you could build with a 4060 Ti in it. Looking around at prices right now, most 4060 Ti cards seem to be priced around the $700 range by themselves. Though outside of the 30th anniversary edition one, I haven't had interest in getting a PS5 Pro. I just would have gotten it then because if I was going to buy a 30th anniversary edition console, why not buy the more powerful one instead of just side-grading?
For what price I'd pay for a console... that question is getting harder and harder to answer now that we live in world where console exclusives are becoming less and less a thing. Most third-party games are releasing on PC at least in addition to whatever console(s) they release on, and with things getting more expensive, it's probably just better to invest in a decent PC instead. Although looking at the out of control prices of the 5090 cards, if you want the best of the best in PC gaming, you better be ready to fork over several thousands dollars for it.
How much would I invest in a PC? As much as I needed to/could afford to. If I could afford to just say, "hell yeah brother, give me that $3,500 5090" right now, I probably would just because I would love to play games at the absolute maximum I could. But that's a dream for another day.
