Glad to hear and hope it stays that way, minus the bit at the end about your job being annoying. What do you work in if you don't mind sharing?

i really want to, but i think giving away what i do is going to allow people to add 2+2 together pretty quickly and figure out my actual employer, which is easier than you'd think if i went into specifics.

let's just say i work in the call center industry and leave it at that; it's all pretty similar for the most part regardless of area of focus anyway. u_u
Oh, fair enough. My question was aimed really at just a vague answer like working in a call center, service industry, etc. sort of thing than hyper specifics anyway. Tongue

So, last year I wrecked the car. Totaled it, in fact. But, in order to do that, someone else had to hit me. So, I'm just having a great year, so far ^.=.^;
Not sued by the person who presumably hit you right? Because how can the person at fault have a case to sue you? Or is this that time where you pulled out by mistake and got t-boned? Unsure

That is, in fact, about the T-bone. So, yeah, this week has been fun, reliving that anxiety.

Ah. I'm guessing insurance either didn't cover their stuff at all or that they refused to settle with what the insurance offered? Because apparently in most cases you can't pursue an at-fault party after settling with their insurance, and I'd have thought the insurance side of things would've been dealt with already considering how long ago it was that event happened. Unsure

I've never had a phone call that I was the receiver for that's delivering sad news before, and god my head is so rattled by it. Especially because it came from my work which is the last place I'd expect to receive a phone call about something of that nature...

I'm really only writing this because I'm just trying to not keep this shit in my head and make my mental state worse...

I remember when my co-worker was told one of her best friends had passed away while she was at work, in her office, she let out a sound that we all thought was her laughing but was actually just her mourning so intensely it was offputting.

Being blindsided by a sad announcement is infinitely worse than expecting one. Literally nothing you can do to prepare for it. Expected news allows you time to process the possibilities and potential outcome, which still sucks ofc, but that slap in the face "here's all your emotions on a platter for you to process right fucking now" is just next level.

I'd hate to receive a call like that whilst at work. I take it it wasn't someone so close you had to take the remaining shift off or more but still, someone you knew still takes it out of you for some time, sounds like it was sudden as well.

This month is seemingly not going so well for a few of us huh. All I can do is hope something good comes around instead.

Seems somewhat better than my coworkers reaction which was passing out wherever she was when she got the news over the phone. I don't even wanna know what her other reactions were before or after that while she was still in the store. x.x

I wasn't on shift, I was at home. My frozen coworker was on shift and received a call from her dad that her brother had committed suicide that morning; I was called by my grocery manager who told me of the news because he felt I should know as soon as possible what had happened rather than walk into work tomorrow (Sunday) and suddenly find out on shift.

Eh, a little mixed for me mainly because the event above is still affecting me somewhat. I also still need to figure out and start on my animations I have to do for the letter B. Suffer

@Moonface : Ah, I misread, thought you were at work at the time of the call, but it was from work about your coworker. Oof, that is terrible. Hope she's allowed time off for that then, especially after passing out.

I'd post a bit about my weekend but I'll move it to the other topic for that.

She's been off work since she got the news, and for now she's seeing if she'll be ready to return to work on January 28 so that's the soonest she could return, but it isn't guaranteed. As far as I know she isn't being made to return to work on any specific date, at least for now.
Of course, management is giving the minimum amount of coverage for her absence, which has already led to work piling up that will continue to be left undone unless I do it, or it gets so bad that upper management takes notice. Rolleyes

I had a random nose bleed again this morning that I didn't notice until I felt blood running over my lip from it pooling up in my nose for long enough. I never understand why they happen because I never had one in the UK, and I think the first time I got a nose bleed ever was a year or two ago (?) so I don't feel like it could be something Florida-caused considering I've lived in the state since 2017. Unsure

Ah of course, no one willing to help your section out when it's clear someone will be off for a while, typical. I know this isn't exactly similar but I'm expecting tomorrow I'll be ordered to help out home shopping yet again and leave our newer colleague to face the Sunday horde of customers/home shoppers emptying the shopfloor. I usually do a few trolleys then just return to my department without bothering to see if it's acceptable in their view, regardless if they're still behind or not. XD

I do dislike random nose bleeds, my last one was in early December round my Dad's, just sitting there laughing at something then all of a sudden felt my nose run, a bit dropped on my top I was wearing, seemingly no cause at all. I don't mind if it's nose bleed from bashing my nose accidentally, at least there is a reason then for the bleeding. Although the last few knocks to my nose has not caused a nose bleed luckily.

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday and we enjoyed a bit of bowling and a meal, but then we got the news later on that my step granddad had finally passed away. Sad but also happy to know he's at rest now, no longer lying about waiting for the end, he caught a lung infection while in care and couldn't swallow food on top of it all. He spent a couple days over a month in hospital/hospice so it wasn't for too long, though I'd imagine it felt long to him.

I'm both sorry for your loss, but glad his passing was in palliative care so it could be as comfortable as possible, despite his few shortcomings near the end. I've heard the UK has one of the best hospice care systems so I'm sure he was in the best state he could have possibly been in for his journey beyond. Unfortunate it happened on a day about celebration, but life tends to operate on the "easy come easy go" logic lol Anyway, wishing you and your family peace and strength, and luck in planning the upcoming funeral LOL Smile

Thanks Shira, the funeral has already been pre-paid and set up beforehand, we just need a date which his son and daughter should be sorting out. It'll be a first time meeting some of his side of the family, I only ever met his daughter at my nan's, but the only stories I've heard from the other side's grand kids (my generation that is) hasn't been great, basically just asking him for money whenever they visited him. I don't want to ever interact with them beyond this gathering if they do attend, perhaps they might have a decent side to them but the money crap is enough to not want to know any more.

Yeah, even today I was asking who will be helping me tomorrow morning because Tuesday morning is when we work our biggest delivery of the week (so it requires two people to do it instead of one) and was met with basically no answer, so me and the dairy guy had to formulate a plan ourselves for him to help me out and be done quick enough that a) it's done before I leave for classes and b) he can get back to his own stuff sooner than later. Meanwhile, my team leader had to cover for two people today who are both out and are the ones who usually do price tags and such, and when he asked the grocery managers if he was expected to do it by himself they told him that of course he is. He had to get the store manager involved to actually get one of those managers to actually help him, and even then they didn't actually really do anything after being told to. Rolleyes

Sad but also happy to know he's at rest now, no longer lying about waiting for the end, he caught a lung infection while in care and couldn't swallow food on top of it all. He spent a couple days over a month in hospital/hospice so it wasn't for too long, though I'd imagine it felt long to him.
Sorry to hear about your loss, although given your grandad's condition it was the lesser evil it seems. It's stupid that if a pet was in that condition we'd put it down but when it's a person they're just expected to suffer with it until the end comes along. Errm

Reminds me of when I attended my nan's funeral on my mum's side. Had never met most of the people there, and the few I did know going in were people I didn't enjoy interacting with anyway on the rare occasions I did before that funeral.
Karma would be that those who kept asking your grandad for money every time they saw him end up either not being in the will or getting little in comparison to those who didn't do such things, but I get the impression your grandad isn't someone who would pull a thing like that considering his pre-expressed generosity...

Ugh, I have to design a pair of sneakers for class tomorrow and I'm currently drawing a blank on where to go next with what I have so far. I know all the elements I'd like to possibly use, it's just trying to figure out where and how to use them. Doh
Then after this is done I have three animations and a presentation for them to get done before Friday and I've barely done anything for that yet... Monkas Nooo

Ah of course, no one willing to help your section out when it's clear someone will be off for a while, typical.
Rolleyes
