Yea, I played the og RE7 just not the remaster. I usually don't talk about playing Resident Evil games since some of them kind of um.. scare me to play. hehe

Yea, I played the og RE7 just not the remaster. I usually don't talk about playing Resident Evil games since some of them kind of um.. scare me to play. hehe To be fair RE7 was the series going fully back to its horror roots so unless you're someone not bothered by horror I'd expect it to scare most people to some extent. I know the game certainly got me quite a few times.
RE8 isn't as much of a horror game compared to 7; it's a little bit more action oriented so not every encounter is trying to spook you. RE4 would probably also be a good pick from the series for you if you've never played either of its versions as that too lets up on the horror aspect fairly often so it'd be easier to stomach.
Is there a horror game you've ever liked the concept/look of but simply can't/won't play because it's just too unnerving to play it yourself? For example I loved the idea of Alien: Isolation but even just watching someone else playing it on a stream was enough to spook me so I certainly would never play it myself.

Yes, Dead Space. I love the story, the way it looks and everything about it but having to deal with aliens trying to kill the main character at every opportunity is a huge turn off and keeps me at arms length from playing it.
There's also Prey, but I'm getting ahead of myself since I know Prey isn't as bad. 😅👀

Dead Space is a game where I had to play with a guide the first time to know where every enemy spawn was so that I could get through it.
Prey starts off feeling scary due to how weak you are against enemies, with Mimics being a main way of scaring the player because they can become anything to hide in the environment. A later upgrade does let you scan environments to detect them though which then removes their ability to scare you, but there are still a few really mean jump scare moments in the game. I'd say it's probably on par to RE8 for horror if I had to compare it to something you have knowledge/experience with.

That maybe so, but with Dead Space you have area's where you have to get air to breathe in some area's due to your running out of it and that kinda freaks me out a lot. ^^;

I never found the game makes it challenging to keep your oxygen filled in moments like that, but if just the idea of it freaks you out I'd very much advise against the game even if a guide for the enemies were to help you. Isaac will make strained breathing noises in those sections the lower his oxygen gets, and if you're in a zero-oxygen area that's also in a vacuum it eliminates almost all sounds around you, so the breathing becomes incredibly prominent.
So does that same thing bother you in non-horror games with characters having limited air, like for underwater sections in a lot of games?

For me it turns into a timer based mini game and I hate timer based mini games. Like if you don't find the underwater materia to be able to fight Emerald Weapon in FF7 you're dealing with a timer in order to fight against it. Same thing I feel in other games, like Dead space where you can only go so long in space without oxygen, or even in Dave the Diver when you're underwater. Eventually Dave will have to come up, if your low on air. It's why I don't own Dave the Diver. I do however own Dead Space for the PS3. Which I would like to try and play one day. Even though I hear the remaster for it is a lot better visually. I'm just cheap. XD

Also the remake has a thing called the Intensity Director which will vary up things like enemy spawns and environmental scares so it would be impossible to be aware of things up front using a guide like you can with the original, so I wouldn't recommend the remake based on what you've shared so far about your feelings with horror aspects and others in games.

I think for me it'll depend on if I get Dead Space remaster gifted to me to be able to play. haha But, I'm not worried about that. I was how ever complaining to a friend of mine about how I feel Chadly in FF7 remaster is basically easy mode getting materia instead of your finding the materia playing the og FF7. 🤷♀️

Um you have. His name is CHADLEY he is an android assistant of Hojo. He makes MATERIA for Cloud and co if you do research for him. He IS in both games. Trust me, I find him annoying as HELL. https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Chadley
He even makes himself a cute little assistant sister who asks you to fight certain monsters in the area. She too is annoying.

Oh, that guy. I don't think I ever paid attention to their name because a name like that would've definitely stuck in my memory.
Are you anticipating the upcoming Dragon Quest 3 remake or the eventual reveal of DQ12?

Oh Square defiantly named him so that many would make a meme of it. I'm sure. Since he is a super Chad. LOL
I actually would love to play Dragon Quest 3 on the Switch since I never played the original. I just hope with Akira's death they can release a decent version of the newest DQ12. So we'll see since Square has no idea how to do jrpgs anymore. Its kinda sad.

Plus going by the credits of previous games, it looks like he was mostly in an artist role rather than writing or game design, so the most his death looks like it could affect in future titles is the character designs since his art style could be emulated (as is how it goes for anime adaptations of his or anyone else's work).
I'm guessing you didn't have any interest really in Sand Land despite it being another game that uses Toriyama's art style?

I tried playing the demo for it, but I had no interest in it whatsoever. There are some of his games I won't play of his because I myself am not a DBZ fan yet every year there was always some DBZ game that released.
Also, the Sandland demo made no sense to me. Either you're running around as the devil guy or inside of one of the tanks. Can't be either or, and I'm not learning how to play a demo just to understand some lame game mechanics they didn't explain to begin with. smh
