Given it would be international news for that bridge to fail, since it being the tallest in the world makes it more of an attraction than a majority of bridges, I'd hope and assume that they ran every test they could more than once. For this particular test though, they had those trucks on the bridge for five days and there's no chance general public use would see more weight put onto that bridge than 96 trucks, so if anything was going to show up as a problem for that bridge I'd expect that test would be the one to have exposed it.
I also didn't know the area that new bridge is in has over half of the 100 tallest bridges in the world. So I guess they definitely have experience with making beefy bridges that have to really defy gravity.

I really hope for the sake of the people who will be using that bridge that it will be sturdy. China is known for being able to build things extremely fast, but on the flip side of that, they are also known for building things that easily crumble. I know I would probably never risk driving over a bridge that tall regardless of what country made it. I'll, uh, find another way around, thanks.

I'm trying to remember if it's China or somewhere else because I forget what country it is, but I know there's one where there are basically no building regulations and everything comes down to getting it done the fastest and cheapest, safety be damned. I get the feeling it isn't China though because if their buildings were utter shit I wouldn't expect their bridges to be much better, yet there's no news stories of their bridges failing which could be a notable story given how many of their bridges are in the top 100 tallest.

In a moment that isn't really that shocking to me because it's TwitchCon (seriously I'd be more shocked if nothing happened), but I saw that Emiru (who I had never heard of before today despite her being one of the biggest female streamers on Twitch) was assaulted by a guy during a meet and greet session.
Twitch naturally gave a dismal response to the whole ordeal until Emi popped off on stream today about what actually went down and how bad Twitch's actual response was.
Why the hell any woman would dare go near TwitchCon still is beyond me. I've never heard anything good about that event and it just seems like every year it's a ticking time bomb for something to go wrong.

Yeah I've been following that a bit, atrocious both the incident and Twitch response. Apparently they only go to Twitch Con because of being contractually obliged to, which you may have come across perhaps if anywhere mentioned it when you were looking at the news of it. Plus her original security personnel was permanently banned for doing his job previously which made absolutely no sense, the assailant walked to her meet-and-greet from a different queue, just WTF. I know Twitch has been her income, but a contract to force you to go to a convention, I wouldn't have it personally, even more so if I were female as they're unfortunately more likely to get despicable people trying to do things. Deplorable. Or go one step further, and he may have done because apparently he did have some sort of weapon on him, so if his first intention was causing worse harm instead, well he would've been successful.
I'm slightly aware how poor Twitch has handled things and seem to be favourable in terms of punishment when some streamers break..."rules" or and get non-harsh bans for a like 24 hours when others get weeks for much less. Emiru is acquainted with some other big streamers so hopefully there's something better done or change coming from the amount of attention this will have and if Emiru acts further, but there's also a chance nothing will. Pfft.
I haven't been using Twitch as much this year, may just jump into a stream I follow but don't watch for long or I may watch on YouTube instead if they're streaming there as well, or a video made later. I've only seen what's been happening on Twitch outside, hasn't been looking good, this is just another bad thing on the pile.

Yeah, the whole situation is just an absolute joke on Twitch's part, which isn't too surprising since Dan Clancy is more concerned with watching the OnlyFans women on Twitch rather than actually doing his job as CEO. The fact that she used to have her own security with her and they banned him from the event because he dared to do his job and grabbed and held a man trying to get close to Emiru, but then offer their streamers the biggest joke of security you'll ever see. Dude wasn't even paying attention to what was going on until after the guy had already grabbed her. Thankfully this situation is blowing up and is putting even more negative light on Twitch than there already has been lately. These streamers are the source of your company's money, and you can't even be bothered enough to give them appropriate protection at a public event?
Sad thing is, if this was Hasan at Twitchcon, Dan Clancy would go to the ends of the earth to give him Secret Service levels of protection because he'd have to ensure the safety of his personal favorite. Anyone who would get within 20 feet of Hasan would probably be hit with a taser as if they were Kaya getting off her bed. But any other streamer? Nah, you get some random, probably un-trained/un-certified "security guard" (who is probably just one of Twitch's staff members) who can't even be bothered enough to pay attention to some random dude walking right up to a female streamer.
Hopefully Emiru presses charges against the guy so he can learn his lesson fully. Unfortunately I don't know if there's anything she can actually do against Twitch, but I'm hoping that this might just be another nail in the coffin of Dan Clancy's career at Twitch. Eventually Amazon has to give a shit and do something about him and what he's turned Twitch into. I'm surprised they haven't done anything yet, because from everything I've gathered, Twitch has never turned a profit since being acquired by Amazon. Obviously Amazon earns enough money on its own that it can make up for all of the losses from Twitch, but even then most of the times you'd see a company absolutely gut and re-build a subsidiary that has done nothing but lose money for over 10 years by now. Amazon seems intent on just turning a blind eye though, but hopefully with Twitch being under the eye of the Federal Government recently, we might see some changes happen. Not only with dealing with people like Hasan, but also taking care of all of the extremely inappropriate OnlyFans streamers as well (unfortunately Dan won't do anything about that because that's the streams he watches 99.99% of the time).

Now, I haven't really read anything about this story, and given the fact that Ubisoft, you know, still exists, I'm willing to bet that nothing is going to happen to the company or the perpetrators because we live in a world of scumbags. But I did see something I wanted to make a comment on, so quote please?

Given that Youtube is notoriously a money sink for Google that only turned a profit after at least 15 years of ownership, it does not surprise me one bit that Twitch isn't turning a profit for Amazon. Profit is not the reason why Amazon owns Twitch. Why they own Twitch is probably a closely guarded secret, but if I had to guess, its so that Amazon can hold the technology Twitch facilitates behind their paywall, and that's how Twitch is indirectly turning a profit for Amazon. That's just a complete guess from knowing there are sites that directly uses Amazon's servers for their own streaming services, so I don't know how much weight that holds.

Maniak is 100% on the money. The streaming architecture Twitch runs on is something Amazon is interested in selling off, and already has to platforms like Kick.
Both Google and Amazon are so unfathomably wealthy that the $46 billion that Twitch could supposedly be worth are mere pennies to the over TRILLIONS of dollars these companies amass. Oh those bananas you bought went bad? Eh, it was only a few dollars, no big deal. Same idea for Amazon to Twitch (comparatively, ofc)
Dan is really a mere figurehead at this point. I actually don't believe that man has any real power at this point. The company is a shell of its former self after Amazon began laying off hundreds of workers bi-yearly since 2023 when Amazon noticed its unsustainability. The lack of "care" on Twitch's part probably comes down to the fact that there aren't any hired bodies left to control the multi-faceted streaming platform Twitch is at its current scale. There's honestly probably more bot/AI implementation maintaining things than there are real people.

So apparently the situation got worse...
-Originally the perp was only banned from using the Twitch website for 30 days. It took Emiru's manager throwing a huge fit to get them to finally change it to a permanent ban after about two hours.
-Dan Clancy in an interview implied that the attack was Emiru's fault, essentially saying that the streamer controls what kinds of people are in their audience, and she shouldn't have made a person like that feel comfortable in her audience. You know, ignoring the whole fact that tons of people pretend to be completely different on the internet and the fact that this guy could have just been a lurker in her streams, waiting for his chance to do something like this without her even knowing he existed.
-The security person who separated the guy from Emiru was her own personal security guard, and Twitch's security was no where near her at the time
-Twitch's security apparently was seen laughing the whole situation off as if it was nothing to be concerned about.
-The attacker was able to walk out of the venue and leave without any intervention from security. They day after the attack the police were still looking for the guy. I don't know of any updates on this, so I don't know if he's been found or not.
-In another fail on Twitch's security team, this guy was able to walk THROUGH multiple other streamer's meet and greets, including the one right next to Emiru who was apparently a vTuber doing a meet and greet. The fact that Twitch security watched this guy cross through multiple other meet and greets and didn't feel the need to do anything about him is just such a huge failure in their quality.
-The night of the attack, higher ups of Twitch were apparently out partying all night instead of working on how to resolve this issue and make the venue a safer place (which is probably why the next bullet point happened)
-Amazon apparently felt this was a bad enough situation that they sent out security of their own that supposedly is usually used for their big wigs.
Emiru released a video detailing a lot of what happened after the fact, if you haven't watched it, it might be a worthwhile watch. She talks about how if Twitch doesn't care about one of their biggest streamers like her, how many smaller creators who are at Twitchcon are being attacked and nothing being done about it? It's a really good point to bring up, because it's true. As she mentioned in the video, thank god someone in her line was recording and got the attack on camera, otherwise Twitch probably wouldn't have cared, since they didn't actually start to pretend to care until the clip went viral and exposed them, then they went into major damage control mode. There apparently have been many other reports of similar attacks that happened at Twitchcon too, though I haven't dug into any of those to really comment on them or their validity. Unfortunately in a situation like this, you will see people come out with legit stories, but you also have the people who will come out with made up stories, hoping they can use the clout of the situation to boost their viewership.
The fact that Dan Clancy had the balls to even entertain the idea that the attack was Emiru's own fault is just absolute wild. Whether or not he's just a figurehead at this point, they need to get rid of him ASAP.
Oh, and then to make Twitch look even worse (which you wouldn't think was possible at this point), they put a furry cub vTuber on their front page like a day or two after. For those who don't know what a "cub" is in the furry scene, it's a baby. He was vTubing as a baby furry. Some minor investigation revealed that the man behind the model does actually have a diaper-fetish/baby play-fetish. Keep in mind, to make the front page of Twitch you have to be chosen by a member of Twitch Staff. Which means that someone on Twitch's staff team saw this... thing streaming, and went "Hell yeah, I love this. Put it on the front page." What makes it even weirder though is that Twitch is very... inconsistent with their rules when it comes to vTubers. vTubers will get suspended/banned for non-offenses all of the time. One of the biggest examples if if a vTuber model has exposed hips, it's usually an automatic 2-week ban for that vTuber. Yet there are women on the platform who are 98% naked with a camera shoved right into their ass, who never get in trouble at all (of course probably because these the streamers that Danny boy is watching). But then they go out and specifically pick this weird ass fetish furry vTuber to showcase on their FRONT PAGE? The bigger vTubers don't care that they can't show hips, but they do care that the rules are so one-sided against them that they get banned for non-offenses while other streamers get away with much more. Of course to reinforce this even more, this furry vTuber was banned for a whopping 24 hours only after giant streamers like Asmongold and XQC brought attention to the issue.
Twitch just needs to be nuked at this point. Whether it's a full reset or complete annihilation of the website. We need to go back to the good old days when the only thing allowed to be streamed on Twitch was video games.

Yeah Clancy was a moron saying it was Emiru's fault. I doubt people will come up to you declaring their username and with amount of audience she'd have that may chat their's no way keep track of each one, , and lurkers are next to impossible to find unless you have that very person's Twitch details.
Unfortunately her security wasn't the one that was banned, he probably would've been right by her side. The hired security she did have was, again unfortunately, stationed out of sight. That heavy push he gave the attacker was great though.
I'm not surprised to hear Twitch security laughed it off, a commenter put a theory the attacker could've been a plant to pull heat off Hasan and his dog. Still that situation isn't going to die either. Though I am still inclined to believe it was just a random pathetic individual anyway.
