He's probably best known for the endless Chuck Norris facts/jokes people have made.

This day was to come at some point. Still, RIP to a literal man, myth and legend that is Chuck Norris.

I did watch some of Walker, Texas Ranger when it was airing on a US based channel for the UK, same one that aired NCIS when I was watching that as it was on before NCIS when I came home from work in my earlier years at work. They were alright, the episodes usually ended with some ass whooping as you'd expect. XD

Yeah, besides being in a Bruce Lee movie I couldn't name a single other thing the man was in. It makes me wonder if a lot of people wouldn't really know who he was if his name hadn't been attached to incredibly popular memes. Hmm

Walker: Texas Ranger was a very popular TV series in the 90s, but of course if you weren't living in America at the time, you would have likely never heard of the show. That TV show is what sparked the "Chuck Norris Jokes/Facts" culture of the mid-2000s.

Yeah, I've never heard of that. I also thought the jokes of Norris being able to nuke the moon with his bare hands like Piccolo was from his appearances in fighting movies like Way of the Dragon and stuff.

In news I completely missed and stumbled onto by pure chance, Jock Blaney, the voice actor for Wolf and Bill Grey in Starfox 64, has passed away at the age of 67.

I've not played Star Fox 64 so haven't heard the Blaney's voice until just now as I went searching for a video.
I swear they kept changing the voices of the Star Fox characters for some reason. Well at least the Smash games they've always been different.

Anyway, RIP to him. 67 is a bit early. I know many have already gone but really puts into perspective of all the voices we heard from earlier games, they're all becoming older and/or passing away, even those we may have not heard before.

I wonder if he knew about the Star Fox 64 remake before his passing or not? I just realized he passed away about 3 weeks before the surprise Star Fox Direct and he obviously didn't reprise any of his roles for the remake. Unsure

Also in news that seemed to be very low note for how much notable stuff they did, Ted Turner passed away on May 6, 2026 at the age of 87.

Voice actor Tom Kane has passed away at the age of just 64. If like myself you don't recognize the name, he was best known for the following roles:
  • Professor Utonium and HIM (Powerpuff Girls)
  • Yoda (Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
  • Darwin (The Wild Thornberrys)
  • Mr. Herriman (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends)
  • Lord Monkey Fist (Kim Possible)
  • Magneto (Wolverine and the X-Men)

Darn, and just at 64. I didn't recognise the name, but know one of the roles you listed of Darwin. He did good job with that character. RIP.

Reminds me I was watching through the DVD collection I bought of the Wild Thronberrys, as I used to watch as a child, though didn't finish that re-watch.

Just found this out looking her up on Wikipedia, but Marcia Lucas died May 27 of this year. She was 80. If you've never heard that name, I don't blame you, but she is a great film editor, having worked on classics like American Graffiti (which she nearly won an Oscar for), Taxi Driver...and Star Wars (which she DID win an Oscar for). In fact, several of those movies were made by her then husband: George. Yes, that one! It has been argued that her team arguably saved Star Wars in the edit, trimming scenes and otherwise recutting them. There's actually a video floating around that recuts the Battle of Yavin IV using deleted scenes, unprocessed footage, and bloopers to restore how it was originally written, and if you have seen the original film version, it's IMPRESSIVE how terrible it is! It's really bad! Seriously, watch it, and compare the two versions, it's incredible.

So a couple of deaths in the gaming space happened in the last 72 hours, one being as recent as 4 hours ago:

Ubisoft co-founder, Claude Guillemot, dies in plane crash
France Info Wrote:
A light aircraft crashed Friday afternoon, June 19, in a field in the town of La Baule, killing two people, Loire-Atlantique firefighters announced.

Upon arrival at the scene, "the aircraft was on fire and the flames were spreading to the surrounding vegetation."

Contacted by Ici Loire Océan, the mayor of La Baule, Franck Louvrier, indicated that it was "a Cessna 421, a twin-engine propeller plane with eight seats, which had departed from Rennes."

According to information from Ouest-France, which we can confirm, Claude Guillemot, co-founder with his four brothers of Ubisoft and owner of the aircraft, was one of the two victims.

The Breton leader was expected this weekend in La Baule for a gathering of over a hundred aircraft. The other passenger is believed to be an instructor from Rennes.

Bobby Prince, composer of "Doom" and "Duke Nukem 3D", has passed away
Legacy Wrote:
His innovative work helped define an era of gaming and influenced generations of players around the world. Through his compositions and sound design for landmark titles including Doom, Doom II, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, and Duke Nukem 3D, Bobby helped establish video game music as a respected art form. In 2005, the Video Game Industry honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2026, the soundtrack to the original Doom was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress, ensuring that his groundbreaking work would remain part of America's cultural heritage for generations to come.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but you're telling me that one of the founders of the company that has been mired in drama and accusations for better part of almost two years and is trying to get taken over by a Chinese company because they continue to hit rock bottom suddenly dies in a random, accidental plane crash?

Okay, maybe that is a little crazy. But that is some insane timing for a tragedy like that to strike the family that owns Ubisoft. RIP to both of the people on that plane though. I feel for anyone who goes out in that sort of way. If I had to rank the ways I would prefer to die, a plane crash would be among the bottom of that list.
