Phogs Metroid (Shiny) Halloween Birthday Bash (Shiny)
Rift of the Necrodancer (PC)

New rhythm game to try and git gud at. So, this is sort of like Stepmania on keyboard? You have left, up, and right on the keyboard to hit (down will hit all three directions at once). Monsters scroll down the screen in each lane, and you have to hit the right key to hit the monster. The game is synced to the beat of a song (with support for custom tracks! Yes, someone has already added TTFAF), so you have that to guide you on when to hit. The complexity comes in that each of the monsters have different patterns that you need to hit in order to be able to whack them. Blue monsters have to be hit twice, yellow have to be hit three times (unless its a skeleton; that has a different pattern), shielded skeletons are hit double time, armadillos are hit in triplets, and this is a small smattering of the monsters available. It quickly becomes a game with a high skill ceiling. It's really fun, but it's hard to get used to, and sight reading feels like a non-starter unlike, say, Stepmania or Guitar Hero, simply because there are SO MANY monster patterns. Which terrifies me, because there's a daily challenge section that randomizes the chart placements. Gonna be a long while before I can do that.

My Mad Scientist Roommate Turned Me Into Her Personal Robotic Battle Maiden?!? (PC) (Yes, that is the actual name, punctuation included)

10/10 name, no notes. From the deranged minds of Max's Big Bust, we've got this wacky game that is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. I played it, publicly advertising I was playing it to troll my friends (I was legitimately hoping someone would see it and message me "What the fuck is with that title?").

Boy, was that a mistake.

Holy Jesus, this intro is so unfunny! Everyone is a bell end, and it goes on forever, and -- oh yeah! -- you can't save at any time despite the majority of the game being a Visual Novel. THE HELL DO YOU MEAN I CAN'T SAVE DURING THE CUTSCENES?! I could barely play it for very long before I just caved, which unfortunately means I'm gonna have to redo the opening from the top.

The sad part is, the game actually has some legitimately funny jokes later on. There's a sequence where you, as a robot, try and fail to solve a picture Captcha, along with plenty of one-liners like "I'll destroy your army faster than I destroyed your marriage!" and (this next line is said to your character) "I tried this on a toaster and it didn't blow up, so there's no reason this shouldn't work on you." There is something actually funny in this game! It's just this intro is SO painful!
