The only WWE games I've played/owned are HCTP and the SmackDown vs. Raw games that followed it up until 2009, at which point I didn't get another WWE game until 2K17. I doubt I'll ever buy another WWE game though since I didn't find 2K17 to be very good. I was in career mode and was in a fued, when suddenly I got put into some random unrelated match at a PPV and the fued I was in got entirely dropped. I tried going back to the game later when I got surround sound thinking it'd be good, and it was just....really bad.

I just can't get into how much the games turned into simulators because they just so often do things that break the experience or just flat out aren't very good at it. Errm

Man you missed out on a lot of great games if I do say so myself. SVR 06 is one of my favorite games of all-time. HCTP is WAY overrated in my opinion as I believe SmackDown: SYM (Shut Your Mouth) was a way better game/product.

As far as the newer games being more of a sim than arcade. I personally enjoy it now more so than how it was on the original PS1 or so. 2K17 was a pretty good game and probably my favorite besides 2K19 on this current gen of 2K games.

I'll post my top 5 wrestling games here shortly in another post.

I've owned and played;

Smackdown! Just Bring It
Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth
Smackdown! Here Comes The Pain
Day Of Reckoning 2
Smackdown vs Raw 2006
Smackdown vs Raw 2007
Smackdown vs Raw 2008
Smackdown vs Raw 2009
WWE 2K14

No longer have Just Bring It, Shut Your Mouth and possibly two of SvR 2007, 2008 and 2009 too or one of them as my sister and I chose to get rid of them. Know we still have HCTP, DoR2, SvR '06 and 2K'14. Oh my sister has one of the ones after 2K14, I played it very briefly as I didn't really like it. My favourites are HCTP, SvR '06 and 2K14.

I remember making really wacky CAWs (Create A Wreastlers) for Shut Your Mouth. I've forgotten pretty much all of them but one which me and a friend named simply Tom who looked like a normal guy, but his run and stance was weird amongst other stuff. Oh, I remember two more Buisness Man and our (at the time) secondary school principal. I usually created Mario and Luigi in the earlier games then eventually my own original characters I've made up outside of this, plus more wacky wrestlers. For 2K14 and DoR2 I also liked creating wrestlers who had max stats or very close to it. Actually only made one with max who I've appropriately called Haxman, who has crazy and iconic moves, entrance where he enters with a completely different outfit than the one he fights in, plus an exceptionally long and silly Finisher (with a super quick alternate Finisher to compensate). SvR 06 I felt had the best creation for PS2 era, main reason why I won't get rid of it, or not let my sister do as she is the one who actually owns it out of us. I actually only personally own DoR2 and 2K14, we share(d) the rest.

I've owned and played;

As far as the newer games being more of a sim than arcade. I personally enjoy it now more so than how it was on the original PS1 or so. 2K17 was a pretty good game and probably my favorite besides 2K19 on this current gen of 2K games.
As a playable experience in the sense of a game there's nothing wrong with 2K17; I just find that when a game is trying to be a simulation and stuff just doesn't look convincing (visuals, sound, commentary, career matchmaking, etc.) that it really breaks the immersion. The older games didn't try to do that so heavily and so things not being 1:1 didn't seem odd, because it was a video game presenting itself as a video game. The newer games are video games presenting themselves as simulating the real thing as closely as possible, and so it makes me scrutinise things so much more.

WWE 2K22 is a MASSIVE upgrade from 2K20. It seems as if the WWE 2K series is back to its great self.

It basically had to be better than 2K20 given how bad that game turned out. Tongue

WWE 2K23 has been out for awhile now and it's even better than 22 was. Anyone else check it out?
