Dang, thought I had replied to this back when I read it at the time you posted it but I guess not...

Great to hear the crowd singing along and having a good time with it too. Huge difference to six years ago when one of the Late Night shows had Hatsune Miku on (as a promotion for Miku Expo that year) and the reaction from the host and crowd was awkward as fuck.

Seems pretty messed up for the host to react in an awkward way. I'd expect a host of any show to be aware up front of what they're showcasing so as to not look like a buffoon from not knowing what they're showing on their own show.

Anyways, win-win for both organizations for sure. The only negative of the night was that apparently the Dodgers really scuffed the merch sales. They only had one tent, manned by three people, to sell merch and some people waited in line the entire game and ended up being kicked out of the venue by security around 11 PM. Apparently both the people selling the merch and Dodgers security made comments that the amount of people in line to buy the merchandise was by far the biggest line they've ever seen. One employee specifically saying they had never seen so many people waiting to buy merchandise in the 20+ years they've been working at Dodger Stadium. So the Dodgers definitely underestimated the popularity of Hololive (especially when Gura is involved). If they decide to do this again next year, hopefully they'll be better prepared for that.

I'd love to know what company was running the merch booth. I remember the one time I went to a live AEW event and they had a single booth manned by three people and there was absolutely no queue system, it was just get yourself near the table and try to get attention without being a dick about it. It was a miracle I managed to get in and out of that booth rather quickly and I put that down to how small my frame is to be able to squeeze through people easily. They were also quickly running out of stuff too I recall. The whole thing was dumb because AEW would know up front how many fans are coming to the event; at least the booth for this Dodger's game has the excuse that they don't know how many attendees care about Hololive stuff.


So I didn't see this live but this amusing moment happened at the Olympics today during one of the swimming events: Paris Olympics 2024 | Lifeguard Goes Diving
I'm curious how the cap got there because the commentary doesn't seem to have been aware of a competitor exiting the pool without a cap on. Whoever ripped out that wolf whistle when the lifeguard comes out absolutely elevated the moment though.

Just saw this through Reddit and while I didn't watch the entire thing, holy shit this is so sick! I didn't look myself yet but apparently he has some videos that go into the techniques he uses to get the timing and stuff down.

Okay this is really cool to watch. I don't know how it ended up on my YT front page given I've watched nothing to really tell the algorithm to suggest this video to me, but I'm glad it did. The video goes year-by-year and demonstrates every part that was taken from different songs and overlayed with each other to make the most iconic electronic music sample for that year. I only watched 1990 so far because I was just curious but the format is so good I think a lot of people could enjoy this one.

I had an assignment this semester where we had to pick a movie and make a custom title sequence for it, and I just finished mine so figured I'd share it here for people to check out!



I do want to some day add more to the end because this isn't what I'd do for the full sequence, but the assignment only required at least a minute of footage to be done.

@Moonface Nice you were allowed to use footage from the movie, really brings it up a notch and the use of images helped too. Very fitting for you to do Addams Family too. I got to do a Title Sequence in Uni over here and chose Young Guns but didn't use footage, only images and just ended up hating what I did for it really, but still submitted it. I don't know if I have the file even anymore, nor uploaded it anywhere, but yours was definitely far better than what I made.

Technically we weren't allowed to use any movie footage, but that was only for the actual title sequence. I wanted to have my title sequence start at the same point it does in the actual movie and using the same transitional shot, which is why I have that brief part at the beginning of the video. The credit sequence itself is a mixture of edited stock video footage and stock photography:

• Everything up to the title card is two videos of clouds overlayed onto each other and color edited to mimic the smoke inside the cauldron, which is something the original sequence also did.
  
• Gomez's scene is a still image from a cigar website, but I edited out the smoke that image had and overlayed stock footage of incense smoke over it to have the moving smoke.
  
• Morticia's scene is entirely stock footage with the only edit I did to it being the color grading.
  
• Fester and Pugsley's scenes are both a still image that I just gave motion to using camera movements.
  
• Wednesday's scene is the same as Morticia, with the only change I made being extending the footage because originally it was only 2 seconds long.

Ah, using that part of the original film like that still helps, otherwise it would start as you said without the cauldron being seen, so it'll just be the smoke immediately. For an outside viewer there'd be nothing leading into it, so it's a plus being able to have that short part included in your submitted video. I understood nothing else was used from the film, other than needing to type the same character/actor names, and you did well with the effects used alongside the images you chose. Wondering what else you might do for the end as you said you wanted to do more, though no need to rush on that.

I know that for the two actors who play the villains in the movie I wanted their names to be shown with the two gravestones we see at the end of the movie when they get thrown into the open graves, since I figured it'd be a neat bit of foreshadowing that wouldn't come off as a spoiler because it'd just feel in keeping with the tone of Addams Family. I'd have to look back through my cast list to come up with ideas for what I'd do for everyone else, in particular the crew that worked on the movie as they don't have characters, so unless they had a crew role that I can make imagery for that fits the tone of the rest of the sequence, I'd have to try and come up with something fully original for them.

Ah you're going to add more of the cast and crew, nice. I assume it's some of the crew and not all of them?

Watched a few of others, they're not too bad and some good. A little cripe with the Spirited Away one is when Chihiro walks by the other main characters, they pass by a bit too quickly. Also some of them aren't fully complete and I know all to well of not being able to finish the animation on time for the deadline. Makes me wish I bothered to finish my Chirpy animation...that I never uploaded because of the fact it was unfinished.
