The Super Mario Galaxy Movie | Official Title Announcement
During yesterday's Nintendo Direct, the official title for The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel was announced to be The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. So far only returning voice actors have been confirmed.



The movie is scheduled to release in April 2026.

Quite looking forward to watching the film, hoping it'll be as good as the 2023 one. Gotta remember, a Yoshi will joining in finally instead of being a cameo/in the background appearance. Well unless they scrap the end credit scene, they shouldn't.

That being said I've forgotten where the Mario Bros ended up after the battle with Bowser in Brooklyn, as the Yoshi egg appears underground. Will it run a little rampant as the Yoshi explores, and surely the Mario Bros will find it and realise it came from the other world, thus take it back, then some stuff happens that leads them to go out to the Galaxy? I'm hoping Luigi will still go on the adventure too, instead of being side-lined like he was in the Galaxy games. Yes I know you can play as a shorter version of him, but that was after completing the first playthrough or something.

If memory serves me right, the movie ended with the Mario Bros. either back at their Brooklyn home, or they were hanging with Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom, or it was a mixture of the two. I won't be surprised if they find Yoshi by just doing some plumbing work for someone who has a blockage, and they find the egg stuck in the sewer pipe and then it goes on from there.
I am curious though what the motive will be to go into space, because Yoshi doesn't come from there so it won't be about taking him back. Heck, assuming Yoshi won't speak nobody would even be able to know he came from space even if that was the case, so Yoshi is probably just a reason to get them back into the Mushroom Kingdom without just having Peach call for help, which would be really dull and uninspired.

I also just realized Seth Rogan wasn't mentioned as a cast member, so DK isn't returning for this movie. Makes sense because he isn't in Galaxy as far as I know, but until now my mind was just like "Oh yeah DK will be back because he's a main supporting character".

Yeah it was either one of the two where Mario and Luigi were, that's what I wanted to remember which side specifically. If the film continued while they were in the MK, how will they know to look for Yoshi? Until they return to see their family I guess. If Brooklyn it can begin straight from there as Yoshi who should technically start as a Yoshi baby/kid, or they'll let it spawn as an adult either straight from the egg, or let time pass in between 2023 film to Galaxy for the Yoshi to grow.

Yeah I wondered where Seth was, perhaps it'll be more focused on the two Galaxy games perhaps then. Yoshi did appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 as playable mount, just wasn't in Galaxy.

Rainbow Road was already featured in the first movie, if only they used a different course or left Mario Kart to feature here as Rainbow Road could perfectly fit in for this Galaxy film. I suppose RR will either be used as a means to go out into Space, or not at all now. Not saying I disliked the Mario Kart portion from the first film, I did enjoy it.

So I looked up the post-credit scene to refresh myself on what actually happens, and I forgot the Yoshi egg begins hatching as the scene ends, so Yoshi will be discovered post-hatching. In that case, it'd be a neat nod to Luigi's Mansion if the movie introduced Yoshi by having Luigi get separated from Mario in the sewers, and Yoshi's shadow darts across a wall or something which spooks Luigi. Give him a flashlight to clutch and wave around while uttering "M-M-Mario?" and it'd be perfect!
