Developer: Sucker Punch
Platforms: PlayStation 5
Release Date: 2025
In 1603, a new Ghost named Atsu sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.
Was not expecting this to be revealed during today's State of Play, and I wondered what this game was going to actually be when the streamer I was watching the SoP through noted that the date of this games setting is hundreds of years apart from Ghost of Tsushima (that game takes place in 1274). I did always wonder what could really be done for a sequel to GoT, but it never crossed my mind to just do another game in the same universe but completely separated from GoT.
I'm excited to see more and intrigued with what this game will do with the character/story that fits the vibe of being "the Ghost" but without retreading what GoT did.

Woo! Glad to see Sucker Punch are continuing the series as, well, a series. Definitely happy they chose to jump time periods/different characters. A series of just different legends from Japan's coolest historical eras

I'm interested to see if Jin's story will live on in this game as some sort of legendary tale that went on to inspire others throughout history to become "ghosts". If the main character of this game is referred to by anyone or herself as such, then that surely has to be the case otherwise it'll be a little odd that two samurai in Japan in different time periods decide to coin themselves with the same term.
A recent interview with the creative director says this game will have a less repetitive open world compared to GoT, which will be nice because while I can't recall disliking the open world events in GoT they didn't have a huge variety of things to do, and some of the stuff was content you'll also do in the main questline.

I remember some people complaining it had a bit of a Far Cry/Assassin's Creed open-world disease with the "checklist of things to do", though like you said, I can't really say I found that to be as pressing as with those other games. Even the Horizon games suffered a bit more on that front too, I'd say, than Ghost.
Was the "Ghost" thing mentioned in the lore of the first game? I feel like I remember that being a 'legend' that Jin took upon himself, but the memory of it being verbalized by other characters is foggy. If so, I can see them doing it again, with more of a specific nod towards Jin, I imagine.

I am the Ghost." somewhere in Act 2 I think which is the first time he refers to himself with the title, but before this others have already started to refer to him as it so this moment is Jin accepting the title. I was trying to find a full script for the game to find all the times the term gets used but I didn't manage to find one.
