Updating on this: I did not, in fact, get paid. So, because I missed those days, I'm down about 500 bucks because of both missed wages and costs involved in taking the trip. So, you know... awesome. Bleh, and I know this is probably because of being part time too which is so dumb.

Living in Florida, you've probably seen it a lot first hand (insurance companies that will stop covering hurricane damage because they don't want to have to fork over money).
Insurance is one of the biggest scams in the United States. You pay them to help you in a time of need to cover a huge cost and instead they find every little reason to try to say it's your problem and they don't cover it. You can't even call and ask your insurance company a question about something without them using it against you and increasing your rates because you made an inquiry. I'd go so far as to say insurance companies anywhere in the world, but I've never had or heard of any experience with them in the UK to say how bad they actually are; I just don't have faith in that sort of business actually trying to do the right thing without being dragged kicking and screaming to do it.

I'm on a new medication for my Ulcerative Colitis, and surprise surprise, its temperature controlled. If it rises above 46 degrees, it dies! So it's imperative that I get it as soon as possible so that I can get it in the fridge! And I would do that IF IT HAD ARRIVED LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO!
This medication was shipped in overnight packaging, and was supposed to arrive today between 8 AM and 430 PM. According to the tracking number, it HASN'T EVEN LEFT THE DISTRIBUTION CENTER as of the writing of this post! It's been there since 6:19 AM! My three days off was scheduled around getting this shit on time, and that's to say nothing of the fact that if I don't get this medication, I will miss my due date, which is this Thursday, and I don't know how many days I can miss! I have an appointment with a fucking nurse from the manufacturer on my due date so she can show me how to use this thing, and I'm gonna have to tell her "Sorry, but the shipping company didn't get it to me in time?!"
And before one of you bastards tell me "you should have used a different carrier; FedEx sucks," I didn't get to choose the carrier. I have to get this medication direct from the manufacturer because my insurance refuses to pay for it! So I was apparently always fucked!
Edit: in the time since posting that, FedEx shipped the package to me and it was still in acceptable condition, thank Christ. I was able to take the medication on time, but this quite frankly is fucking bullshit that this even happened. I swear you've mentioned a time before where your medication wasn't handled correctly... Although reading the rest of your post (I tend to reply to quoted stuff as I'm actively reading it rather than fully reading and then replying lol) I see it wasn't wrecked this time, but I still stand by thinking there was a time this sorta thing happened before.
Speaking of postage carriers, nothing against them because I don't blame them but DHL were supposed to deliver my passport a few days ago and failed to deliver it because they couldn't get into our development due to lack of a gate code. Thing is, I've never known any postage carrier to need a gate code provided to them for who they're shipping to; any other time regardless of who it was they just get in so I thought all postage carriers can just get into somewhere they have mail to deliver to because that would be the logical thing, but apparently DHL is a special child who doesn't want to work like everyone else. So now I have to figure out how to give them my gate code so they can get in to deliver my passport.
In other wonderful news, the past two days were torture because out of nowhere our A/C decided to rupture a coil despite being only two years old. We didn't know what was wrong with it until the tech came out to inspect it though, so naturally he didn't have any of the parts on him to fix it so they had to come back the next day (yesterday) to do it. It made doing anything a slog because the house was sitting at 85F constantly. x.x
We did go to the mall today though which was something we wanted to do earlier in the week but our A/C dying and having to be home for the tech to come out derailed that. Managed to find a few cool things there to buy.
