@Moonface Ehhh....?! Why did you work 12 hours? Actually I can imagine why with the amount things you have to do over there from past posts. Oof.

About the heavy stuff, it's calmed down a bit, there was a mental breakdown not by me going on and other stuff, just took a toll on me. Just want the rest of this year to ride out more easy because 2025 is definitely going to be a busier year.

The most I'm doing at work is 10 hours and that's two days coming up I'm scheduled for (this Saturday then Monday), 9 hours Tuesday, 8 tomorrow and Sunday. Our stock has most certainly come in, and there's price wars going on between the big stores competing to get the lowest priced veg, we were meant to bring down to 15p but then price war happened, and we got it all put down to 8p for the carrots, broccoli, sprouts, parsnips and one type of potato. Peeps be annoyed at the other potatoes being so much than the 8p ones, I bet we're going to have problems shifting that stuff. XD
Because my manager is an imbecile and ordered a 900 case truck where he thinks we'll sell 400+ units of Cool Whip in a week when it isn't even going on a good deal so half my time was spent having to sort through all the shit. I doubt I'll get that all sold before 2025 even rolls around. Rolleyes

Glad to hear whatever is going on calmed down a bit. ^_^

Now I'm curious how much that stuff usually is, and whether or not the stores are all going to shoot themselves in the foot doing that when customers start to have the impression the prices can always be that low if the stores can seemingly do it now without an issue. I'd love to know what the losses end up being between the reduced priced veg and the inevitable higher priced veg being thrown out from going bad when nobody buys it.

Ah got to love it how stores/managers orders way too much, especially something like a single product that just won't sell. How long does Cool Whip last by it's expiration date? They even do it with short expiration, just why?

I've forgotten most of them already, I just don't memorise them out of hours, I at least know 1kg carrots were in the 65-69p range as it was going up and down prior to the big reduction. They ordered in too many 500g carrots that don't go down unless it's forced by a manager later, so today when I saw my colleagues when shopping, they had people complain about the 500g carrots and the other potatoes that were full price, which some of them are like 12x2 or so trays high in the warehouse. LOL So yeah I'm expecting waste, just don't know how much at the end of it all, there's already loads from reduced dates as other items had masses in for singular days for no reason that have already been and gone. Going to be fun these next few days.

If warehouse have bothered to date rotate correctly it should last until 2026, but I have had frozen product turn up already out of date before or with less than 3 months on it before.

I read more about that price war thing; I didn't know it had been a yearly thing since 2014 because Tesco first did it to try and save themselves from debt and saw massive success from it. Ever since then it's practically guaranteed to occur every year and all the grocery stores plan for it as part of their yearly budgets.

I forgot to mention this in my last post, but I've been suffering with a headache/migraine constantly since I left work on Tuesday. I thought it had finally gone away last night but it came back today, so most of my day has been again spent concussed on the couch. Sad

Very stressful... I've had two major projects to work on at work, as well as investigating an urgent bug (that doesn't even occur on my test system) and helping others with their own work.

Though, on a happier note, I did take today off work, to see my girlfriend. We went to see Wicked, which I quite enjoyed - although now I have to wait for Part 2 to come out to see how it ends. And we did swap Christmas presents, which was rather important!

The end of year between Xmas and New Year's isn't particularly going the way I hoped, and that was everything be calm and move smoothly until we...or just I, see the New Year in peacefully. There's a very big thing happening with my family at the moment, well actually two things now, one involving my Dad and the other my step-granddad. Latter is in hospital and seemingly approaching the end, my Dad is in a big mess with a lot of things really, we're all even friends of the family trying to deal with it but he's not properly co-operating. I'm also just finding it hard to do normal things currently. Might have to add a number of things to my New Year's Resolution even though I never follow it, but this time I should.

Work has been a good distraction, so I can focus on something else at least. Heck, I actually look forward to going to work on Thursday.

Decent all around for me. Had a delicious decaf mint mocha from the local cafe, and am prepping a pie now for new year's eve! Good day food and drink wise ~

Only worked two days this week, but they were both very busy. I was finishing off the stuff that was left over from before Christmas (and helping my colleagues to do the same!).

This morning, I had four separate people all asking for assistance from me... got pretty hectic >_< .

Yeah these past few days at work have been nuts for whatever reason, not Christmas busy but notably busy that I have to rush around the shopfloor, and make up a lot of replenishable stock to bring out. Although with the amount of stock we have, potatoes and veg, you can't help but be reminded of Christmas again. XD
@Kyng: Was that four people at once?! I've had two people at once before but not four, I have also had a bunch of people in quick succession asking for help before as well.

Well, I think it was two at once, followed by another two in quick succession: it wasn't literally all four at once Tongue . But it was quick enough to be seriously annoying.

My weekend's been fairly quiet. However, my sister's at home again, after her stay in Berlin. Haven't heard a whole lot about it, but she seemed to have a nice time there! And she got me some German biscuits to try Smile .

In regards to what I underlined, I'd say that someone needing help can only be helped so much if they're refusing to co-operate and/or help themselves. I know it's easier said that done, but if someone is refusing help to the point that your effort is becoming detrimental to you then I'd suggest taking a step back for your own well-being. There's no point in being dragged down with someone else. Eh

Ah yes, I understand. I will consider stepping back if our attempts keep failing and it's having that affect on me. I haven't lost sleep yet over it/spent a night worrying over it. If my Dad was the type to normally lash out or argue back or something I'd definitely would have already stopped caring, but he's the kind to bottle everything up, holding back what he's feeling. We tried again yesterday talking to him, and definitely saw him be more vulnerable around us and looking like he really wants the help this time, but we can't be there for him 24/7 currently because of work and such but we've given him a good reason to start co-operating, and that we still want to support him. I wasn't feeling down over it yesterday, just hope it can begin to turn around.
Also with my step-granddad at the same time, but I've already accepted the worst and just waiting for the moment really. He loved my nan dearly and he had already mentioned his longing of joining her, so I'll be...relatively OK.

Does he bottle stuff up from not wanting to tell others? I'm wondering if maybe suggesting he write out his thoughts would help him because journaling is a technique therapists will suggest and can be a good way to get stuff out without actually having to share it with anyone unless you want to show someone what you wrote.

Quite likely, he doesn't talk unless he's questioned, and he'll talk more with 1 or 2 people present, better with 1 actually, but anymore than 3 seems to be too much for him to open up about anything. Well to put it quickly he's been scammed which lead to him losing money, and we only found out the latter only recently (around my 30th Dec post) so it's probably more down to the shame of losing of money and denial of the scam's nature, possibly more. We are considering memory as well, possibly early dementia as his father and sister had it so it's all the more reason to support if it's confirmed, so that is the next step getting him tested for memory, which is what we mentioned yesterday to him. I know he keeps a diary but I doubt he writes stuff like daily, weekly, recent thoughts in there. I could suggest that he does when I speak to him next. What's more is that he's having other troubles as well which isn't helpful.

Holy shit so I'm attending a wedding this weekend at Disney and the total lack of organization within the wedding party is fucking stunning. I only turned up an hour ago and was immediately met with constantly changing information for what's happening tonight, and tonight is just the rehearsal stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw plans being drawn up on the back of a napkin right now... Errm

Very busy at work - just like the last week of December before Christmas was. I'm scrambling to get a major project out by the end of January.

On the plus side, my sister's been at home this week - so, we've played some games and things Smile !
